DESCRIPTION:WORLD CONVENTION\nHello\, \nWe are so excited about WCNA 38! As last-minute preparations are underway\, we ask for your patience and also want to keep you posted on what’s happening. \nWCNA Registration \nIt’s not too late to decide to come to the World Convention. Registration will be available onsite. There are still tickets for many of the entertainment options\, as well\, and you can still make hotel reservations through our room block. Onsite registration begins 2:00 pm\, Tuesday 26 August\, and will be available at two locations. There is much more information at wcna.na.org. \nAudio Streaming from WCNA & Onsite Translations \nIf you can’t make it to WCNA 38 in person\, you can still hear the main meetings—and select others—through the weekend! The schedule and streaming connections in English\, French\, Portuguese\, and Spanish are posted at the Unity Day/WCNA Stream link on the convention page. Please join us virtually and be part of the worldwide celebration. \nIf you’ll be onsite\, you can use the same connections to access translations or amplification for hard-of-hearing—but you’ll need your own device (tablet or phone) and headset or earbuds. The Convention Center does not provide free wi-fi\, so you will have to use data on your phone to access these streams. Please make sure you have a US simcard with data or an international data plan if you’re coming from abroad. \nHotel Cash Policy \nBe warned that most hotels in DC will not take cash. Be prepared to pay with a credit card if you are coming to WCNA. \nUnity Day \nSunday\, 1 September\, is Unity Day. Every year we take a moment on Unity Day to join together around the world and say the Serenity Prayer. The Unity Day meeting at the world convention is always an experience—whether you’re there in the room or connected online. Events and institutions that have made arrangements will shout out to the main meeting\, and audio streaming is available to everyone\, wherever you are\, through the Mixlr connections at Unity Day/WCNA Stream on the convention page. Please join us. The meeting will begin at 11:30 am Eastern Daylight Time\, and we will all say the Serenity Prayer together at 11:45 am Eastern Daylight Time. Even if you’re not streaming the meeting\, please take a moment and pray with us—that one day\, every addict who needs us may have the opportunity to hear our lifesaving message of recovery. We are so excited—and so busy! If you have a question or need to place a literature order\, it might take longer than usual. Last time we held a world convention\, we had about 25% more staff. Please know everyone is doing the very best they can. We ask your patience and good wishes these next few weeks. \nNew na.org Website \nIn that spirit\, we are delighted to announce that the new www.na.org website is up! Our IT team accomplished a minor miracle in getting this together. We have known for some time that the days our old website could stand would be numbered\, but we were hoping that we could wait until after the convention to focus on this monumental project. When the website failed\, our IT team went into overdrive. What you see now at www.na.org looks different from the website you accessed in July\, but nearly all the same information is still there. We believe it will be easier to access\, less confusing\, more readable\, more secure\, and less likely to leave us in the lurch again. The website is very much a work in progress\, given the busy-ness of this time and the emergency launch. Features will be added and errors corrected every day\, and more after the convention. Perhaps most notably\, the Search feature will be enabled in the future. Until then\, you can use the sitemap in the footer—and please explore the website! There are a few large files that are still unlinked\, but fear not! Nothing has been lost. They will be made available in the near future. \nOne advantage of the new site is that it is responsive (mobile friendly) now. We look forward to delivering the free recovery literature we have posted in a more mobile friendly format than ever before; watch this space! We’ll let you know when this much-desired improvement is in place. \nWith the new website comes new links. If your service body website has links to readings and IPs\, those will have to be updated. If you have other links to pages at na.org\, please check to make sure your links are functional as soon as you (or your webservant) can. \nIt’s not too late to join us in person or virtually for WCNA 38: The Power of Love!
